I can't begin to say how happy I am with this camera! The detail this Canon R5 captures is outstanding! When I zoom in, I can see bolts of lightning detail in the clouds. The scene is Blue Mounds, Wisconsin on early September evening.

Autumn's knocking, and I'm pretending I'm not home. Sure, it's glorious — perfect temps, leaves doing their whole dramatic color change, and yeah I'm wearing my jeans, cashmere and flannel like some kind of L.L. Bean catalog model. Photography goes from "meh" to "I am Ansel Adams." It's a whole vibe.

I'm here to tell you that fall is a con artist. It shows up looking incredible, gets you all excited, and then — p**f — it's gone before you've even worn the cashmere twice. The fireworks are over and its just dark. Then suddenly I'm elbow-deep in a turkey, shoving breadcrumbs where breadcrumbs were never meant to go, eating my body weight in mashed potatoes, and watching the sun clock out at 4:30pm like it's got somewhere better to be.

Happy September, enjoy every minute in shorts!

Sunlight and colors weave some magic in the Wisconsin River Valley. The lavender carpet is purple loosestrife and is considered aggressive and invasive, but oh how beautiful. This is all Mother Natures hard work and not a garden that someone planted.

One of my earlier digital photos taken in 2008 and still one of my favorites. I had been shooting a long time prior with an analog SLR.
Black eyed Susans, Queens Anns Lace, a sprinkle of white asters, mix in some morning fog in an oak savanna...and walla my ice cream and cake of photos! Picture taken in the driftless region of Wisconsin.

I love a good creek/crick and I really love it when the cows are not pooping in it. Many of us Wisconsinites used to play in country swim holes when we were kids, back when America's dairy farmers let their cows graze in the fields. Oh boy, what are your thoughts? Did you have a swim hole in a nearby crick?

The sky rumbled, low, long and menacing, sirens screaming for everyone to run, to get below—and yet the wind never made its debut, as if the storm itself were holding its breath. Then the sky broke open, and the rain pummeled down in a sudden downpour. When all the noise and rain had passed over, fog began to rise from the valleys as if sending smoke signals across the region (HEY we are all OK). Then as the sun began to set every color across the sky in one final, defiant blaze. What a glorious evening—beautiful because it dared to be violent. And grand because I have my camera in hand!
