At some point during every session, I inevitably ask new clients if they have pets or are animal people. When I asked Abby and Alec this question on Sunday during their Wolf’s Hollow engagement session, they both lit up, giggled a little, and said in unison, “Oh yes. We are animal people.” Now, to be clear, I love dogs of all sizes, but I happen to be a “large breed dog person.” So, when Alec mentioned he had three Rottweilers in the past and currently owns a Cane Corso, and Abby said she has a black lab/Great Dane mix, I may or may not have jumped up and down, asking to see pictures. It’s surprising we got as many photos as we did after that point, given all our sharing of dog photos and videos, along with oohing and aahing over the absolute cuteness that filled our camera rolls. It’s safe to say, we really hit it off.

I blinked and Jackson is a SENIOR! I’ve been photographing him and his family for many many years and I just can’t believe it is his turn already. More to come!

Sara and John had the outdoor spring wedding of their dreams at Springfield Manor in Thurmont, Maryland, on Saturday. Ahhhhh! Spring has arrived, and wedding season is here. Kimberly and Walter’s wedding at Historic Ashland was the perfect way to celebrate this joyful time. It was the first wedding of the year at Historic Ashland. There’s nothing like returning to weddings with fresh energy after winter break. The vendor team definitely brought the enthusiasm, matching Kim and Walter’s excitement for the day. They had been counting down to their best day ever for a long time. It had been ten years since Gina and Alex had been together at Penn State. It was the perfect spot for their engagement photos since it was where they first met. Luckily for me, this location also meant I got to have lunch at the Allen Street Cafe with my son, Andrew, a senior this year, before their session. After a good, long talk, delicious food, and some encouraging words to my oldest child, I walked across the street to meet Gina and Alex on College Street, right in front of Old Main. As I took a spot on the wall to people-watch while I waited, I wondered if I would have trouble spotting them in the crowd streaming by.
