Why Professional Photography Planning Matters More Than Just Showing Up With a Camera
Professional photography doesn’t start when the camera comes out — it starts long before the session ever happens.

Thoughtful planning is what separates images that feel intentional and polished from images that feel rushed or accidental. Location choice, lighting direction, timing, wardrobe coordination, and the purpose of the photographs all matter.

When these elements are planned in advance, the session flows smoothly and the final images feel cohesive rather than random.

Planning also removes pressure from the client. Instead of guessing where to stand or how to pose, clients are guided through an experience that’s been designed specifically for them.

That guidance creates confidence, and confidence shows in photographs far more than spontaneity ever could.

This year they doubled the price of the plaques (that you have to buy yourself), so Im not getting one. Instead I will frame something up.

I used to shoot weddings with Delmar Ray. Now I just offer wedding portraits, not documentary coverage.

From Inquiry to gallery delivery...here's exactly how a session with me works:

Step 1: The Inquiry. You reach out through my website. This tells me the basic details I need to see if we are a good fit.

Step 2: Planning & Guidance. Once booked, I take over the logistics. Location options, timing, light, wardrobe guidance, and expectations are all discussed so you are never left guessing or crowd-sourcing decisions.

Step 3: Session Day. You show up knowing exactly what to expect. I guide posing, pacing, and flow so the session feels relaxed...not rushed or awkward.

Step 4: Culling & Editing. After the session, I carefully select the strongest images and professionally edit them for consistancy, tone, and longevity. You're not sorting through hundreds of files, I do that work for you.

Step 5: Gallery Delivery. Your finished images are delivered in a private online gallery, ready for viewing, downloading, and printing with guidance on how to use them well.

The goal is simple: You don't have to figure everything out. You just show up and trust the process.

Im preparing for model season again!

This year I have a clearer idea of where I want to take my photography.

I want to get paid to create the art and vision that my heart has so desperately be wanting to make. Each model season I get closer and closer to defining what that is.

So this is why I need models, to make a new portfolio so that I can attract the clients that appreciate my vision. It will be a process. Im shifting MY mindset, and testing my skills.
