So far, these Toms have put the slip on us this season, that is until yesterday morning when we caught this one off guard.

After a long morning of distant gobbling with no sights of a bird, we packed up and went for the truck when 50 yards to our right a hen popped her head out of the thicket. Spotting us she turned around and we decided to try and cut her off. Coming up to a bend in the 2track we were following, out of nowhere a tom erupted only 30 yards away. Concealed by pine and down tree roots, we quickly setup and waited for him to clear the branches. A few clucks later and kaboom. It happened. In a matter of seconds we went from throwing in the towel to throwing it into the tailgate. Congrats Troy!

After Mark got us going for the rest of the week, I stayed with Kevin Burmeister and saw him bring down one of the biggest deer of his life just as his brother scored a massive buck. November in Kentucky is just different.
