Green flags when you’re looking for q***r-inclusive wedding vendors:

They do not make assumptions.
Their forms do not say “bride + groom.”
They ask for names and pronouns.
They use “wedding party” instead of defaulting to gendered language.
They do not act confused by your family structure.
They support q***r people outside of June.
They make you feel calmer, not more on guard.

Basically: you should not have to teach your vendors how to care about you. You deserve people who already do. 🌈

In 1977, Harvey Milk won a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming one of the first openly gay elected officials in the United States.

That kind of visibility mattered then.
It still matters now.

Because when q***r people are seen in public life, in families, in wedding galleries, in businesses, in government, in love, it expands what other q***r people can imagine for themselves.

Q***r joy deserves the whole room.

The loud laughs.
The happy crying.
The dance floor chaos.
The chosen family screaming every lyric.
The little “we made it here” looks across the room.

We love the pretty portraits, obviously.

But this? The fully-alive, fully-loved, fully-yourself part?

That’s the good stuff. 🌈

P.S. Happy first anniversary to Tatianah (she/her) + Marlowe (she/her)! We love getting to celebrate your love all over again!

A tiny wedding planning reminder:

You do not have to keep a tradition just because it is expected.

You can walk down the aisle together.
You can get ready together.
You can skip the wedding party.
You can have all your favorite people stand with you.
You can ditch the bouquet toss.
You can rewrite the ceremony.
You can wear whatever feels right.
You can make the day softer, louder, smaller, weirder, gayer, calmer, or more you.

Your wedding does not have to follow a template to be meaningful.

It just has to feel like yours.

Megan (she/her) + Kieran (they/them) had one of those wedding days that felt easy to love.

Tender, joyful, emotional, a little chaotic in the best way, and completely theirs.

We’re always drawn to the small moments: the hand squeezes, the nervous laughs, the people crying before the vows even start, the way a couple looks at each other like, “Can you believe this is real?”

This one still makes us smile. 🌈

Q***r-inclusive wedding vendors do more than post a rainbow in June.

They do the quiet, everyday work that helps couples feel safer before the wedding day even starts.

They ask better questions.
They check their assumptions.
They use inclusive language.
They make space for chosen family, complicated family dynamics, and traditions that do not follow one template.
They understand that q***r joy is not a trend or a teaching moment.

And yes, for us as photographers, it also means you get photos that feel like you.

Not a straight wedding template with different people dropped in.
Not awkward posing that does not fit your relationship.
Not a gallery that tries to flatten your love into something easier for other people to understand.

Just your day, your people, your love, your way.

Q***r couples deserve vendors who have already done the work before they walk into the room.

Starting Pride month with a little flashback to one of our favorite kinds of sessions: q***r love, fully at ease.

Daniela (they/she) + Bela (they/them) brought so much tenderness, laughter, and real-life sweetness to this day. The kind of love that does not need to be overly posed or explained. Just witnessed with care.

That is always the goal for us.

No making people fit into weird gendered posing rules.
No asking who is “the bride” or “the groom.”
No turning q***r love into a perfect way to add diversity to a portfolio.

Just documenting people as they are, in love, in their bodies, in their joy, in their story.

Q***r love deserves photos that feel honest, safe, and beautiful all year long.

Today is LGBTQ Families Day, and this one feels personal. 🌈

We’re Alexis + Katrina: married, q***r, two moms raising our kiddo in a family built with so much love, intention, snacks, laughter, and probably more chaos than we planned for.

So when we say family is not one shape, we mean that with our whole hearts.

Family can be q***r parents, trans parents, solo parents, bonus parents, chosen parents, co-parents, multiple-parent families, aunties, uncles, grandparents, best friends who became family, and the people who show up without needing a title.

Family can be biological.
Family can be chosen.
Family can be built slowly.
Family can be complicated.
Family can be healing.

And for a lot of q***r people, family is not just who we come from. It’s who stayed. Who learned. Who loved us loudly. Who made room. Who showed up at the wedding, cried during the vows, fixed the boutonniere, held the baby, danced too hard, and made the day feel safe.

We love photographing LGBTQIA+ families because there is so much story there. So much tenderness. So much resilience. So much joy.

Happy LGBTQ Families Day to every q***r family, chosen family, blended family, multiple-parent family, and beautifully nontraditional family out there.

You belong in the frame.

Hi hello, it’s June. 🌈

Which means Pride month is here, and we have a lot to say.

This month, we’re going to be sharing q***r love stories, LGBTQIA+ wedding flashbacks, education for couples and vendors, silly little gay photographer thoughts, serious reminders, joyful moments, and probably a few feelings because… hi, have we met?

We’re Alexis + Katrina: married, q***r, photographers, professional third wheels, wedding day hype humans, and big believers that q***r love deserves to be documented with care all year long.

Pride month is celebration.
Pride month is history.
Pride month is protest.
Pride month is joy.
Pride month is community.

So welcome to Pride month at A+K.
We’re glad you’re here.
It’s going to be gay. In the best way.

And one tiny Pride month ask before you go: interact with q***r content this month. Like it. Comment on it. Share it. Save it. Send it to your friends. Hype up q***r vendors, q***r couples, q***r families, and q***r artists when you see them.

Q***r content often does not travel as far online as other content, which means organic engagement really matters. Every little interaction helps more people find affirming vendors, safer spaces, and love stories that look like theirs.
