tagged me to share 8 things about myself. Here we go:
1. I am an empath. I feel others' pain, hurt, grief, fear, surprise, frustration, joy, excitement, victory, interest, and satisfaction. As draining as this is, I wouldn't change it for the world. It plays a huge part in the core of who I am.
•
2. I love taking photos of real emotion, frozen in time, to be felt and remembered over and over by not just the one who felt the original emotion, but by every viewer. I believe the drive for this is tied to #1.
•
3. I LOVE history. I love it's richness and complexity and how it shapes the future. Every time I see some window into the past, whether it be a photo of my grandfather in his army uniform, an old photo of my family when I was a kid, an old book from my dad's childhood, old medicine bottles, a display in a museum, or a historical fiction book/show/movie, I am immediately and wholly captured by it and the stories it has to tell. I think this is tied to #1 and #2.
•
4. I would take an experience with someone I love over a physical gift every time. Probably because of #1.
•
5. I consider myself a pretty frugal person, but I LOVE Disney World (probably because of #1, #3, and #4) and I have zero shame about it.
•
6. I still don't really know what I want to do as a career, because every time I think I know, I find something else I really enjoy.
•
7. I have a deep, resounding pull towards documentary photos. It's almost a physical feeling in my chest. The raw, true, untamed emotion and reality strikes my heartstrings like nothing else (probably because of #1, #2, #3, and #4), but I am struggling to figure out how to implement that into my business (probably because of #6).
•
8. I firmly and unapologetically hate the cold. Probably just because it's terrible. 🥶
