When I first picked up a camera, Youtube University suggested that every photo had to “tell a story.”
To be honest, I didn’t get it. How could 1/2000 of a second actually carry an entire story?
Then, you find yourself standing on the sidelines. When you’re so close to the field, you can feel the intensity, the emotion, the determination, and your job is to capture that feeling.
Then, a running back breaks into the open. But the real story is everything behind him.The sideline erupting, arms in the air, coaches locked in, and the stands filled with people holding their collective breath. It’s not just a run for a touchdown. It’s the exact moment that months of literal blood, sweat, tears, teamwork, and trust break wide open.
And you press the shutter…
Now? I don’t have to hunt for stories. I just look closer.
