Honor the Fallen, Protect the Living đź–¤
Today, the sky is filled with black balloons. Each one represents a seat empty at the table, a verse left unwritten, and a life cut short by overdose.
We’ve seen too many of our legends and too many of our neighbors taken before their time.
For Black Balloon Day today, Hip Hop Cares is looking up to honor the brothers, sisters, and friends we’ve lost, but we’re also looking out for those still here.
Overdose doesn’t care about status or talent, but we do. We aren’t just here for the music; we’re here for the people. Silence and stigma are where the struggle grows, so let’s break it together.
• Check on your circle. Real talk can save a life.
• Carry Narcan. Be the reason someone gets a second chance.
• Speak up. If you’re struggling, your rhythm isn't over yet. Stay with us.
We fly these balloons for the ones we lost. We do the work for the ones we can still save.
If you’ve lost someone to an overdose, feel free to share their name and picture in the comments so we may all honor them.
