The sessions I love the most are always the ones when we have time to create variety and embrace the opportunity to make it personal.

Your photos tell your story.
One day, we all look back on moments and think, "I remember that. I remember what I felt like, what I liked, what I was excited about...."

I say we should never skip the opportunity to document our lives!

See, I contract my services selectively because I want to treat my client's mission like it is my own.

I want to look for ways to make something better... ..a process ..a picture ..a design ..a program

If I work on something I care about, I allow it to take up space in my life outside of simply clocking in and out.

This new Partnerships Packet required a lot more than putting information into a pretty layout.

It meant recognizing the insight specific members could bring to the table and picking their brains. Rethinking what we were offering. Massaging information. Bouncing ideas around. Figuring out how to make the whole thing make sense to someone on the other side of it.

And, yes, I use AI to help me ideate and drill down on the framework of my ideas. But I don't let it take over my projects. I don't blindly accept what it spits out and shuffle along as a job well done.

Because, let's be real y'all... it spits out a lot of garbage. 😂

But when you put the human back into the process, it can be pretty sweet.

And this e-mag is a pretty good example of what happens when your executive director's background doesn't stop at admin and operations, but brings along everything they have picked up in marketing, photography and graphic design, too.

Working with organizations that let me bring everything I have in my toolbox to the job is my favorite!!! 🫶🏼

This summer Jax has been working as an intern with McGlynn Media.
He's spent time researching and creating around our Building Blue Collar project, which spotlights construction and skilled trades.

He's spent time getting to play with some gear and learn some basics about capturing content, taking photos, telling stories, and what "marketing" means. 🤪

He's helped with program and design concepts that we are building out for the future. 😉

He's even spent some time learning some basic photo editing in Lightroom.

He may not have much interest in doing what I do, but if he ever does change his mind.... he'd be really good at it!

He's heading back to school next week, but you may still see him working behind the scenes from time to time around here, and if you have a teen interested in this kind of work, be sure to check back ahead of next summer when I'll be launching opportunities to learn with McGlynn Media!

We don't always SEE it...
the way our lives depend on the people who show up to make things work.
They build.
They tear down.
They plan, fix, operate.
Through dirt. Through sweat. Whatever comes, they are the ones we depend on.
It's too easy to take this work for granted.
But life as we know it doesn't work without the PEOPLE who choose the trades.

Sure, houses are cool.
We live in them.
They give us shelter and comfort.

But, without people who know how to build and repair, what would we have?

I am always in awe of the people behind the work!

It's never just about a house.
