Small business owners!
About a month ago, maybe even a little longer, an idea crossed my mind.
At first, it was just a passing thought. But for some reason, it kept finding its way back to me.
The more I thought about it, the more I prayed about it, and the more it kept coming back, the more I started to feel like maybe I needed to stop wondering about it and actually follow through.
So, I’m going to. 🤍
I want to start setting aside space in my photography for a handful of local small businesses and the people behind them the ones pouring their time, energy, creativity, faith, heart, and hands into building something of their own.
I think sometimes we see the finished product, the storefront, the social media page, or the service being offered, but we don’t always see the person behind it.
We don’t see the late nights, the early mornings, the risks taken, the prayers prayed, the mistakes learned from, the families helping behind the scenes, or just how much of someone’s heart can be wrapped up in something they’re trying to build.
These will be simple, intentional sessions tailored to each business and what best reflects you and what you do.
Each selected business will receive:
• a custom photography session planned around your business
• a curated collection of professionally edited images
• images that may include you, your space, products, services, process, or the details that make your business unique
• digital images you can use for social media, your website, advertising, and other business-related marketing
• a feature here on my photography page sharing a little about your business, what you do, and what you have to offer
The exact session and gallery will look a little different for every business, because I want this to feel personal rather than like a one-size-fits-all package.
For these. I’ll be doing things a little differently.
They’ll be offered on a **pay-what-you-can / donation basis**, with no required amount.
Truthfully, this probably isn’t the most financially practical thing for me to take on right now, and that’s part of why I’ve gone back and forth on it.
But the idea keeps coming back.
And I keep feeling like maybe there’s more value in doing this than what it could ever bring me financially.
I keep thinking about how meaningful it could be to take something I’ve been given the ability to do and use it to pour back into the people around me.
To encourage someone.
To make someone feel seen.
To shine a little light on the work they’re doing and the story they’re building.
And maybe even give a small business owner images that make them stop for a second and feel proud of how far they’ve come.
That means something to me.
To keep this meaningful and manageable, I’ll only be choosing a handful of businesses at a time from our community and nearby surrounding areas. This can absolutely include people who live locally but operate their business in a neighboring town and yes this is for photograpers to!! . I just ask that you keep travel distance in mind when reaching out or nominating someone, since travel and gas are still an expense on my end.
Each session will be planned individually based on the business, what I feel I can meaningfully capture, and my availability.
If you own a small business and feel like this might be a good fit for you, you’re welcome to message me and tell me a little about your business and the story behind it.
And if you know a local small business owner who pours their heart into what they do and deserves a little extra recognition, I’d love for you to nominate them too. 🤍
I want to be intentional with every business I choose and make sure I can give each one the care and attention it deserves. In return, I simply ask for a little patience, understanding, and respect for my time and the heart behind what I’m trying to do.
I don’t know exactly what this will become.
Maybe it stays small. Maybe it grows into something more.
I just know the idea kept coming back, I kept praying about it, and eventually I started to wonder if maybe the only way to know what God might do with it is to actually take the first step.
So, here’s me taking it. 🤍
Now tell me who was the first small business owner that came to mind while you were reading this?
Tag them below or nominate them in the comments. 🤍
