You don’t need to overthink it. Clean lines, soft tones, comfortable fabrics, and something that feels effortless will photograph beautifully. This white dress paired with a simple light blue shirt is such a perfect example. Nothing is competing for attention, nothing feels too busy, and the entire look works naturally with the beach, the light, and the colors around them.

Your outfits should complement the photograph, not become the photograph.

Of course, your personal style always comes first. But when in doubt, simplicity is incredibly hard to beat

There’s something really special about photographing the same family through different seasons of life. I first met this family when they were expecting their first child and came to me for pregnancy announcement photos. Since then, they’ve returned year after year as their family has grown, and now I’m photographing them as a beautiful family of five with their newest little boy. We spent this evening together in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, creating another set of family photos to add to everything we’ve documented over the years. One of my favorite parts of being a family photographer is getting to see these little ones grow and knowing these photographs will become part of their family history. From the moment he decided she was the one. The moment he walked into that store and picked out that ring. Every day after that carrying the secret, just waiting for the right moment.

She had no idea.

When he finally got down on one knee she completely fell apart in the best way. Laughing, crying, running straight into his arms. You cannot stage that. You cannot recreate it. That is just real love and I got to be there for every second of it.
