What would it take for me to get some good paid gigs in Scottsburg? I work at Scottsburg part-time, I can play anything those musicians can play and more than some. Same goes for Crothersville. I got 27 years of experience as a musician out of my 37 years of life. I can play country if you really need to have it. But I have news for you guys out there. There's more to music than country and gospel! I've been out here for 6 years. Yeah I don't play the guitar as much as I would like to. I play the piano, and I'm good at it. I sing, and I'm good at that too. Not just karaoke. I'm sure there are many people better than me, but there are also a lot of people who haven't reached what I've reached. That's humanity for you.

Now hear me out before you judge. I know a lot of musicians in Scottsburg, even if I don't get along with all of them. I know Tesia, I know Kayla Griffen, Jackson Snelling, and many more. I know I'm not from Scott County, and that's okay. All of those musicians are good in their own way. But I have news for you guys and girls in Scott County that don't already seem to understand this: there are other local good musicians and I'm one of them. I have gotten gigs in other cities, even in Austin. I've got skills just as they do and skills they don't have as well. But I choose not to try to make it big, at least right now, because I don't believe in the industry. I choose to be an educator mainly instead. And I'm good with that choice. I don't want a handler for example.

I do believe it's fun to play music and enjoyable, and definitely employable and worth being paid for. But Scott County will never have the music or reputation it deserves if it's always the same people playing! My family's company has worked hard for 5 years to affect change in that regard, but most of the committees that run the town and County, not to mention the local music festivals or at least most of them, have chosen not to include outsiders like ourselves. And here's the thing: we've been here for 5 years, actually 6 years. We only went from Johnson County to living in Jefferson County and working in Scott County and Switzerland County. I really didn't travel that far. So, venues of Scott County, can we make a deal? You know and I know that there are openings. You know and I know that I'm worth money as the others are. I know we had some tussles back in the day, mostly online, but it's time to put that small sound nonsense behind us. Who is with me?

Catch me live on Saturday, June 6th at the Road to Roostertail Music Festival competition being held at the Mad Paddle Brewstillery in Madison, Indiana beginning at 7:00 and featuring many other contenders as well! I will be performing some great rocking music!! I am a pianist that will play anything except for rap and some modern country because it's crap. I don't play crap. I also play classical and stuff like that. I have a degree in piano from the University of Indianapolis, and I am a music and special education teacher as well.

a few months ago, I made a post saying I would see you at the Lexington Old Settler's Festival. I guess there was a misunderstanding, and, no, I won't be playing there this year. Maybe sometime in the future. It's fine, and I really have trouble with the outdoor, sticky and hot environments anyway, so I am hoping to play in more indoor or small outdoor venues from now on. I'll keep you posted.
