✨ When I was a kid, summers stretched wide and free. We rode bikes until the streetlights came on. We built forts in the woods. No one knew where we were for hours—and that was considered normal.
Parenting today feels so different. Every choice—what we feed our kids, how they play, when they learn to read—feels under a spotlight. 👀
I’ve been told my son’s hair is too long. That he should wear shoes. That he shouldn’t spin in circles, climb a tree, or even sit “wrong” in a chair. One time, a stranger corrected him for perching on the arm of a chair at the bank.
It’s exhausting, this pressure to parent under constant watch.
But here’s what I’ve learned as a mom of three:
What’s on the surface rarely tells the full story.
A meltdown in the grocery store might be hunger or anxiety.
A child refusing shoes might be sensory overwhelm.
That gap—between what people assume and what’s really happening—is where my work lives.
I’m a photographer, but also a mom—just like you—learning to trust my kids enough to let them be fully themselves. With my camera, I capture the beauty in the messy, unposed, everyday reality of family life: the crumbs, the tears, the forts that collapse in five minutes.
Because it all matters. Because you matter. Not the flawless version—the real you. The parent who sometimes second-guesses, sometimes gets it wrong, and is also deeply, wholly enough.❤️ Schedule your call here and let’s get your family booked https://calendly.com/lucy-lucypagephotography/30min
