One thing you can expect from me is that I’ll care just as much about your experience as I do your photos.

I’ve always been someone who notices things. Maybe that’s why I ended up doing this for a living.

I notice your pap, the toughest country man in the room, wiping away a tear as you walk down the aisle. I notice your grandmother watching him as he officiates his granddaughter’s wedding, knowing he’d probably been thinking about what he wanted to say for months. I notice your mom looking around the room after spending the last year pouring so much love into every detail with you, and the look on her face when she sees you wearing a piece of her own wedding dress around your neck. I notice the way your families watch you during your vows. I notice the moments in between, when the two of you forget there’s anyone else in the room.

Those moments matter to me because I know what these photos become. Photographs become more valuable with time…..we all know that.

Years from now, they won’t just remind you of your wedding day. They’ll remind you of who was there. They’ll remind you what your grandparents look like sitting beside each other. What your best friends laughs sound like. What your mom looked like watching her girl get married. They’ll remind your future selves how deeply everyone loves you.

I never want to forget that those are the photographs that usually end up meaning the most.

The Barillas!! 🤍

I’ve been reminiscing on this beautiful day from April. One of my favorite parts about documenting weddings is watching people gather.

People buy dresses they’ll wear once. They book flights. They drive for hours. They get ready together in hotel rooms. They rearrange work schedules, hire babysitters, and travel across the country just to be there. And, for just a few hours, life slows down enough for everyone to end up in the same place.

Your grandparents, childhood friends, college roommates, siblings, cousins, neighbors, and the people who have loved you through every version of yourself all share the same room.

It’s so intentional. And I don’t think we talk enough about how special that is. Looking around and seeing a room full of people who love you is a pretty incredible thing.

That’s worth remembering. And it’s one of the reasons I love documenting days like this.

These summer greens have me reminded of this beautiful Tennessee wedding last Summer photographed for my lovely friend Allison Stoddard Photography. This day was absolutely beautiful and filled with so much laughter & love.

Lauren & Rocco!!!

It feels like yesterday we were walking around the streets of Charleston for your engagement session, talking about what mattered most to you two and complaining about how weddings have become productions.

You didn’t want your wedding to feel like that. You wanted it to feel like what it was. Fun, romantic, and a reflection of the life you’ve built together over the last nearly ten years.

Then here we are in St. Louis!! From your welcome party to one heck of a wedding day, it felt like one big reunion with everyone you love most. It was the kind of day that reminds you weddings aren’t about timelines or Pinterest recreations, they’re about people!!

The people who raised you. The people who chose you. The people who grew up with you. The people who have been cheering you on long before this day ever arrived. And getting to document all of that for you two?! What a huge gift.

I also got to work alongside an incredible team of vendors who poured so much heart into making this day what it was.

Lauren & Rocco, thank you for letting me follow your story from Charleston to St. Louis. Thank you for trusting me with moments that can’t ever be recreated.

Here’s to the Vienhages. What a joy it was to witness the beginning of this next chapter. 🕯️🫂❤️
