It’s been a hard year.

Between being your own boss & navigating adulthood, you fight the stigma that work life balance doesn’t exist, trying to prove to yourself daily it can happen. But maybe it doesn’t. The balance beam always leans a little on the side of overworked, guilt, and chasing more. The days I do rest look more like recovery than delight… savor.. and just when I dip my toes into total oasis, I wonder how long I can stay.

I catch myself relishing in the still moments behind my camera when photographing stories for people. I feel the most alive.. present. I take it all in. I look back on all the assignments that turned into the most special memories where I was cradled in beautiful light on the water, sounds of laughter between loved ones, fresh air. All of my senses on guard… I don’t want to miss the moment. Because the photos don’t replace the memory for me… they take me back. They take me back to my comfort level, whether I felt welcome or nervous, timid & afraid, alive or… cold. I sit and wonder what others feel when they see a photo of mine. Where it takes them in their mind & body. They always take me to a familiar place.

My goal from here on out is to continue to create, but this time… boldly. From a new place. Challenging myself to find inspiration in the world and away from the screens. This verse has been sticking like honey lately… always sweet. “For everything there is a season…” Ecclesiastes 3:1

& I feel something new coming.

And so a Greek fell in love with a Mexican… that’s amor… the night before 💘

I love seeing two backgrounds, two families, two cultures… mesh together in one room. The joy…

I’ve known Clara since kindergarten so when she asked me to photograph her & Niko’s wedding in Detroit, it was an immediate yes.

The tiniest sneak peek from Micah & Logan’s session that we toughed through the day after my car accident. We decided we would still push through after rescheduling the following day by taking it slow. They were so kind, gave me so much grace, offering to drive me, bringing me ibuprofen & Diet Coke… I’m so blessed with the most kind & loving clients/friends. I truly can’t wait to share more from their session and spend their wedding day with them.

Engagement sessions are so sweet and make it easier for me to get to know you behind the camera to better tell your story. Past clients… drop in the comments if the engagement session was worth it.

It’s been a full season. If you’ve been following along on my email list, you know I was in a car accident earlier this month and it has taken a little longer to recover than I had originally hoped. I unfortunately bonked my little head and messed up my right leg. I took the month to truly take a step back, breathe a little, and slow down. I’m now finally getting back to emails, edits, and deliveries. If you’ve been waiting for photos of me, I haven’t forgotten about you… your memories are still being preserved with intention. I appreciate everyone’s grace in seasons that can be so full and force us to slow down. If anything, I hope that this is a reminder to you that good things take time and it’s okay to take a take back and regroup. Thank you again.

I will forever be in love with printing photographs… the final product… when it is tangible and comes to life.

There’s just something different about actually holding them. The weight of the paper, the texture, the quality, flipping through them one by one instead of swiping through a screen… an art piece.

I designed these matted prints for Emma & Jacob’s print box and seeing them actually sit down and go through them made me so happy. 🥹 This is exactly why I love doing this.

I think so much about preservation when I photograph people. Yes, I want you to have a beautiful gallery. But more than that, I want these photographs to exist in your home. I want them printed and touched and pulled out years from now.

Because eventually they’re not just your wedding photos anymore. They become family photographs.

And I think that’s really, really special. 🤍

When your blues eyes are your something blue…

Jordyn & Zephaniah’s wedding day was perfect in every way. I adore these two… their love for each other is beyond.

If you’ve worked with me, you know I always love to capture reallllly close to your face- to me it feels like seeing the most intimate parts of your partner that nobody else gets to see better than you… it’s the tiny shapes of their teeth, the little freckle, the crease around their eye that only they have. You fall in love with the most intricate details on the face of the one you love best. The uniqueness that’s vulnerable to most and closest to your best friend. Intimacy. Closeness.

I loved how much these two loved people, imperfect moments, the imperfections in the Polaroids… they grab onto the grunge and character of life’s best moments.

So much joy.

Thank you, Emily, for capturing alongside me. Instead of being a second, we came together to capture this equally.
