This image. What a beautiful example of why I closed my photography business. I got tired of chasing the trends.

Right now it’s “rich colors, skin so smooth it looks like milk, and moms in bohemian dresses with big hats.” While those images are sooo beautiful, it’s not why I picked up a camera.

I like dark, moody images.

I like grain that looks like film.

I like raw moments.

I like untouched skin with its dimples and marks from a life well lived.

I’m buying a more compact camera this spring to get out more and be creative. No strings attached. No invoices to send out. No customers to please.

Should be juicy. Stay linked to my page if you want to share creative ideas, tell me my images suck, or just see the world from a new viewfinder.

I think this was year 3 or 4 with these two! I can't get enough of them. They are kind, chatty, inventive, and playful! I'm not sure of many other kiddos that run out to greet me at 6:45AM. :)

This family.

Life is getting busy with these beautiful souls really ramping up after school activities.

I also happen to fully love my full time, day job. (Let me know if you want to nerd out about science with me!)

And, I am also a rare breed who not only enjoys working out and spending quality time with their spouse, but needs it for her soul to thrive.

That being said, the time as come to take a break from photography as a business venture.

I picked up a camera 9 years ago to photograph my babies - I could not afford pictures from a professional. All of my clients helped fuel this new, creative side of myself that I had never been in touch with before.

But with that, comes the pressure to take on more and more and I have realized, I am no longer taking pictures of my babies.

If you have a session booked this fall, we are still on! But for the time being, that will be it.

We will see what happens as the kids grow older and if more time falls on my plate.

I've loved photographing all of your babies, weddings, seniors, engagements, but mostly - those KIDDOS. Chasing kiddos for genuine smiles brings such joy.
