Happy November my friends. It’s been a while, but I’ve been travelling. Now that I’m back on the east coast, I took a rainy day to walk our streets…and remembered the charm that is easily found here in New Bern. I’m always conscious of time passing, and it seemed fitting to me to spend some time looking at clocks. The Baxter's 1892 clocks in particular. Copper and wood frozen still in windows and tiny cubbies caught my eye…the lush dark carvings and brushed metals that remind us of those who worked creating richly ornate gadgetry. From the reflection of the windows, small horses seem to trot the streets, and I am transported to another place. Old glass bottles still glowing as they once did under lights of swanky places, glint back at me when I smile. A set of playing cards fanned out to entice the player sets a perfect scene for risky business…much like time itself. Wishing you a beautiful late autumn. May you find moments to find simple things amusing.
