Throwback Thursday to this monster American Alligator I found patrolling the swamps in southeastern North Carolina. This huge male was every bit of ten feet in length if not closer to 11, and it did not care for me being there one bit!

I would normally give you a way up close shot being that it is Wednesday, unfortunately the American Alligator has a huge say in just how close I can get. This one I estimated between 9-10 feet in length and had not missed many meals, so this was about as close as I could get before it sank under the water. Taken in southeastern North Carolina.

Normally I would call it "Twofer Tuesday" but this week if shall be named "Threefer Tuesday" lol. How many of you noticed the 3rd gator right away? North Carolina, at least the southeastern portion, has been experiencing quite the drought this year. Making any remaining water holes a prime location for wildlife. I do not normally find large American alligators congregating. Normally they are on the smaller side if I find them together. I found 8 full grown adults, all 8 feet or longer, sharing a pool with around 4 smaller sized gators. It was a photographers dream!

Welcome back y'all! It's gator week! I had a record breaking day in the swamps here in southeastern North Carolina, with over 150 individual American alligators spotted! I hope you don't mind if I share some of those pics over these next few weeks. Let me know in the comments!

Took a tough and resilient follower into the incredibly hot and humid swamps this morning. Found 5 more cottonmouths and a common water snake. Can you find the cottonmouth in this shot? Thanks for going and great to meet you Kerry McGaughey!
