Call for Photo Submissions!
The GHPC annual calendar contest is now open for submissions for the 2027 GHPC calendar.
Details are as follows:
Photographers are encouraged to submit up to four photos
for inclusion in the 2027 Great Hollow Photographers Club Calendar. No cost to submit.
2027 Calendar Theme: Global Nature and Wildlife
If it’s a photo of nature or wildlife anywhere in the world, submit it! “Nature” includes landscapes, trees, skies, flowers, etc. “Wildlife” includes wild and farm animals, reptiles, birds, fish, insects, and most other animals, except people and pets.
Calendar Format: 8.5 x 11 inches, horizontal (landscape) format.
Photo File Technical Specs:
Horizontal (landscape) format, cropped for an 8.5 x 11 ratio. File size should be suitable for high-quality printing, or about 2550 pixels (H) by 3300 pixels (W) at a minimum.
Naming Protocol for Submitted Photos:
All photo files must be clearly labeled as follows. Submitted photos which are not labeled properly will not be accepted. Your name and the image title will be printed on the calendar page per the file name.
First Name Last Name – Image Title
(example: Joe Smith – Monarch Butterfly)
Submission Deadline: Midnight, Friday, October 2, 2026
Submission Fee: Free – there is no cost to submit photos for consideration.
Calendar Purchase:
Photographers whose photos are selected for any of the 12 months of the calendar are requested to purchase one calendar for $25 for each photo included in the calendar. (If you have two photos in the calendar, please order two calendars for $50.) Photographers are welcome to submit multiple images and specify that only one is to be selected. Payment is due by Friday, October 16, 2026.
Calendars will also be available to the public for $25. The final general order deadline is Friday, October 23, 2026.
The revenues raised will cover the cost of calendars for the participants, plus some extras which will be given as “thank-you’s” to the main sponsors of the May 2026 Great Hollow Juried Art Show. These calendars may be displayed at the Sherman Post Office and various GHPC Art Show sponsor locations around Great Hollow. Your photo will also be posted on the GHPC page during the month it appears on the calendar.
2027 Calendar Contest Implementation Schedule:
• By midnight, Friday, October 2, 2026: Deadline to submit up to four photos per photographer, using the link http://bit.ly/ghcsub. Please remember that all photos must meet the overall theme, as well as the technical specs and naming protocol above.
• At the 6:30 pm, Tuesday, October 13, 2026 GHPC Meeting (at the Merritt House, Great Hollow Nature Preserve, 225 CT-37, New Fairfield, CT): Photos will be selected by the votes of the submitting photographers and anyone who has pre-ordered a calendar. Voters must be present at this meeting.
• By midnight, Friday, October 16, 2025: Deadline for payment by the winning photographers.
• By midnight, Friday, October 23, 2025: Final calendar order deadline for the general public.
Distribution: We hope to receive the printed calendars by late November or early December at the latest. When they arrive, we’ll email the purchasers to come pick them up at Great Hollow. We do not mail out the calendars.
