I’ve always been drawn to the moments where almost nothing is happening… like the extra second before they move. There’s really no big expression or the “perfect” pose. It just feels like catching something you weren’t really supposed to see.

I’m always looking for this when I photograph someone. That teeny-tiny space where they forget about me for half a second and I get to see them just being.

What a blessing to witness this and immortalize it. 🤍

Does your someday/one day have an actual date attached to it? 🤍 Don’t wait another five years to book a session for yourself. This version of you deserves to be remembered too.

I’ve photographed a lot of pregnant women over the years, and I still love how completely different every body is. We all carry differently, our bodies change differently, and even the same woman can look completely different from one pregnancy to the next.

The same pregnancy doesn’t exist even if you have another baby. Your body will be different and you’ll be different.

This is why I love photographing maternity in the simplest way highlighting the shape of the body. The thing is this phase only lasts a short time. This shape is temporary, but the memory of it doesn’t have to be. 🤍

Ever since my kids were little, I’ve always told them, “You are beautiful, but that is not the most interesting thing about you.”

I wanted them to know that beauty standards change. They evolve. If you build your self-worth on other people’s opinions, you’ll spend your whole life chasing something that keeps moving.

You can be considered unattractive in one place, then get on a plane to another country and suddenly people are telling you how beautiful you are (yes, this happened to me.) So… which one is true?

I remember someone once told me my hands weren’t pretty. It was such a strange thing to hear because I had never once looked at my hands and thought there was something wrong with them. I’m glad I paid them no mind, but it did sting just a little at the time. These are the same hands that allow me to create. The same hands that feed my family, do what I love, hold my babies, and that my husband still reaches for. My hands are magnificent.

It’s fascinating how easily we let other people decide what’s beautiful, as if they’re the authority on it.

Maybe beauty was never meant to be something someone else gets to assign to us. Maybe it’s something we recognize for ourselves, not just because of how we look, but because of the life we’ve lived, the things we’ve created, and the people we’ve loved.

I hope you decide for yourself. I hope you choose your own definition of beauty instead of borrowing someone else’s.

To all the multifaceted women…

Who love feeling sensual and beautiful. The women who believe they’re allowed to choose experiences that are just for their own enjoyment and actually do something about it. Who have goals and dreams they haven’t given up on just because life is “busy.” The women who are actually doing something about those dreams, even if it’s one teeny tiny step at a time.

If you read this and thought, “Yes, that’s me,” then you’re my people. I appreciate you and your existence. I love hearing about your journey, all of it. You inspire me. This world needs more of us. 🤍

P.S. This glorious vintage two-piece set is from Bear Bone Vintage. I decided it was meant to come home with me. 🥰

When you’re the art on the wall, it means something different. Every time you walk by, you’re reminded that this version of you mattered enough to be remembered. I'm always extra elated when my clients choose to make their images into wall because you deserve to be seen. You deserve to be remembered. 🤍

If only more women realized how beautiful they already are.

I spent time talking with a lot of women, and it struck me how many of them don’t see themselves that way. So many are waiting for a future version of themselves before they’ll allow themselves to appreciate who they are today.

And while I absolutely believe in having goals and working toward them, this version of you is beautiful, too. I know I'll probably spend all of my days on this earth trying to remind or perhaps convince women every chance I get just how incredible, strong, and beautiful they already are.

The art hanging on your walls… Who is it? A landscape? A painting? A photograph of someone you’ve never met?

Why do we so easily make space for art in our homes, but struggle with the idea that we could be the art too?

Why shouldn’t you be the photograph hanging on the wall? Why shouldn’t your story be preserved? Why shouldn’t this version of you be remembered?

You are a work of art. Maybe it’s time you saw that too.
