A little late tonight but wanted to give a shoutout to the New Hope-Solebury VOLLEY IS LIFE 2025 who played a tremendous match against Hatboro Horsham. In the end, the Lions didn’t come up with a win, but the team and crowd energy was outstanding! Way to go, Lions!

College football has begun so I can finally share a few photos I created for Princeton Football last year as part of their recruiting process. I love this assignment because being a parent myself I enjoy chatting with the parents and hearing about their son’s journey to Princeton - not to mention creating some fun photos and memories for these outstanding student athletes. Since they don’t all commit and I don’t usually know any of the parents, I keep the photos private, which is part of the job. But in December, my friend and fellow Suburban One Sports photographer, Laura Rowe came through with her son Ryan, so now that he’s starting school at Princeton, I’m able to at least share his photos! Congrats, Ryan and Go, Tigers! 🐅 PS Huge shout out to the 🐐JC Carey who helped me set up the lights properly for a white background and patiently fielded (and continues to field) my many many questions and is very polite about me not using Westcott lights yet 🤣 He truly is a gem of a human and the world needs more like him!

Happy back to school eve! I’m so excited to get back to the fields this week! In celebration, I thought I’d share an old picture of the reason I found myself leaning into this photography business in the first place. I always loved photography - it was my favorite class in HS and I had a dark room in my basement. I took a few classes in college but then life got in the way and I put away my film camera. When my boys started playing sports I knew I couldn’t settle for point and shoot photos - plus I was a terrible sideline parent. So I picked up a DSLR and have been practicing ever since. Thanks to these now grown up little guys for keeping my dreams alive and pushing me to learn something new every day. I love now being able to capture these memories for others.

I really wanted to try some fair photos - bringing a strobe to freeze the subject and allow the lights in the background to shine with motion blur. It was technically very difficult and I struggled. I also recognize that struggle is a necessary part of the learning process so trying to be ok with it. Many thanks to my volunteer model and lighting crew for patiently waiting for darkness, for rides and people to stop and start and for my many “just one more” (never true) requests. The first slide is the closest to what I was looking for. Will try again another time with lessons learned - and a tripod…
