In-home newborn session rules I have that may be a little shocking...
1-Do not stress about your house not being clean. There will be absolutely no judgement here...babies, toddlers, hormones, & no sleep may mean your house is a bit of a mess...and that's OK!
2-You do NOT need a perfectly curated home. I only need one window for natural lighting and one bed or chair...nothing fancy required. Your home doesn't need to look like a Pinterest photo.
3-We don't have to rush. Feeding, diaper changes, and soothing are just part of the session. You can take your time...you're not holding me up.
4-Don't panic if your baby cries...that's just what happens sometimes and that's OK. We'll do our best to soothe and make baby happy and just roll with it. I'll still get some great photos.
5-I may want to move a few things around to get a clean background, but I promise to ask your permission first and I'll put everything back 😁
6-Toddlers are allowed to be a little out of control...and it's no big deal if they're not looking directly at the camera, standing completely still, and showing their teeth.
7-You don't need a perfectly sleeping baby. It's okay if they are awake...older babies (>14 days) are awake more often than not...I'll still get great images.
8-No need to apologize for the stacked up laundry, or the pile of toys sprawled across the living room.
I'm not coming to capture your home decor. I'm coming to photograph tiny hands, sweet kisses, sleepy cuddles, the way your baby perfectly fits on your chest, the connection, the love, the raw little moments that'll seem like a distant memory some day.
In-home newborn sessions are meant to feel slow, relaxed and baby-led...not stressful.
