A narrow bayou south of the city.
It’s 1am, and I’ve been out on the water all night.
The moon is high now, laying its cool blue across everything.
I was ready to go back.
I was ready to be done looking.
But I just had to.
I brought a warm light from the far side to hold the boats against the shadow.
Those lights on the horizon, the Mississippi, not even a mile away.
When you live with the water, it’s best to keep good company close.
