Before I spam my feed with pictures from Big Easy Roller Derby games last night, I wanna shout out Kirstie Flite.

I haven't played derby in MANY years, but some time around last summer she saw I was doing photography.

She reached out to me and since then, I've photographed some games and walked with them in so many parades. We had so much fun during Mardi Gras!

My favorite picture from yesterday's Juneteenth celebration in Covington.

A child watches her mother recite her poems about the struggles her people have endured and overcome.

Her mother speaks about being unapologetically herself and how proud she is to be a Black woman.

It was truly a powerful moment and her daughter was watching her. This is how strong women are raised.

I'm deeply grateful for my friend Pamala McKay and the NAACP of Covington for allowing me to come photograph their celebration yesterday.

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth a day of freedom, remembrance, and resilience.

As we honor the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, we also reflect on the ongoing pursuit of equity, justice, and opportunity for all. Juneteenth reminds us that freedom is not only about the past—it is about creating a future where everyone has access to safe, stable, and fair housing.

At the Louisiana Fair Housing Action Center, we remain committed to advancing housing justice and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live free from discrimination.

This Juneteenth, we celebrate freedom, reflect on our shared history, and hold hope for a more equitable future.
