Aug 29, 2005. Katrina literally changed my trajectory of life. I wasn’t there when it hit. We were there on Day 5 that became a life time of commitment to the city of New Orleans doing relief effort , animal rescue and photo documentation.

That single event taught more than I can express in a single post of how it melded my experience with life. Katrina is always with me and always will be. The days, months and years after Aug 29 became one of the most expansive experiences. I’m forever thankful for what I learned and who I meet.

There’s so much more to say, but that will be for another day. This is a very short glimpse of what we witnessed during our journey.

We haven’t posted here in a while but we’re getting back into our photo business and yesterday Day 1 of the DNC rally and march. I gotta say I’m pretty happy with the results. I was super excited to run into Cornel West head on! Right in front of me, that’s how it goes you never know what’s going to happen! The emotions people were displaying were so real and inspiring to photograph that’s what makes amazing portraits amongst the controlled kaos.

Another highlight from NOV 2021. The amazing women Cecilia was photographed for her 90th birthday party. We were hired to document her celebration with her family. She is from Hawaii and is still a very active Hawaiian dancer with her beautiful daughter Lei. This womens spirt and her families energy was very inspiring, it was an honor to photograph them.

Its the New Year! I would like to highlight some of our fantastic current projects from 2021. This great commercial spec was created by Anastasios Ketsios and his brother George Ketsios with Brokenentertainment and produced by George Ketosis. In addition, we have some great NYE photos that we just photographed to be posted latter this week.

Today is the 16 year anniversary of Katrina and today Ida is supposed to hit landfall. So many feelings I’m having, but today isn’t about me, it’s about what everyone in that city is going to go through over the next 24 hours. Katrina changed my life forever as it did the whole city and I prey that Ida doesn’t have as much devastation. Out of devastation comes love, community and an eternal bond. Local communities in Nola are bonded in a way that no other is. I usually post lots of photos from our Katrina photo project ( Image Collective: me and )on the anniversary, but today I’m just going to pay respect to that bond along with a photo showing the beauty that Mother Nature can also leave behind. The storm brought people together like no other. So many of my life long relationships in my life were based on that time during the storm. I will be there to help pick up the pieces. Love to everyone.

This year and particularly the last few weeks have been rough as hell. We are all feeling it. But I’m thankful for what I have and what I have lost.
This TOO shall pass.

We were reminded today of one of our fondest memories we have photographing animals . The spread wing photograph, a prized possession, We waited for! We are so lucky to be friends with an amazing team of conservationists and falconers in Louisiana Tom and Jennifer Outlaw Coulson. They invited us to photography them while taking their Hawks hunting naturally in the wild. Caring for about 30 Harris Hawks and other injured birds of prey and animals on a huge piece of land north of Nola. Gifted scientists and educators taking excellent care of these these majestic creatures .
