El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Malcolm X), the Light of American Islam, and his beloved wife Hajjah Dr. Betty Shabazz - رحمهما الله
With this past Wednesday, February 21 marking the 59th anniversary of the martyrdom of Malcolm X and today being the 15th of Shaban so close to the Gregorian date, it was only apt to visit the Patron Saint of New York City. Alhamdulillah for this opportunity coming to fruition.
With the ongoing escalation in genocide in Gaza since October 7th, and the crisis in Sudan, Niger, Congo, Kashmir, East Turkestan, etc. it is very clear where Malcolm would stand if he were physically among us today. What would he do? What would he say in the face of the statements of our elected officials? How would he inspire the Muslim community to stay steadfast in the face of injustice?
The best part about visiting the graves of Awliya is that it reminds you of a victorious ending (Insha Allah) for those who keep their promise to Allah and it also motivates you to live a life for truth and authenticity.
The name of Malcolm X will always be included among the Saviors of Islamic Spirit, alongside Umar Ibn Abdul Aziz, Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, Salahuddin Ayyubi, Shah Waliullah Dehlawi, Sidi Omar Mukhtar, and so many more (May Allah sanctify all their secrets).
Not all heroes and Awliya wear capes. Some were suits and ties too. May Allah enable us to keep visiting His humble servant Malcolm Shabazz, grant him Jannatul Firdaus in the company of Prophets, Saints, Martyrs, and the Righteous, and benefit us through him in this life and the next.
Al-Fatiha ❤️
