I can already see this living in my camera bag.

Easy way to add haze, atmosphere, or low-lying smoke without hauling around a full-size fog machine.

I’d be worried the photos wouldn’t be good enough, that I wouldn’t know what to say, or that everyone would somehow realize I had no idea what I was doing.

What changed wasn’t some sudden burst of confidence. I just kept shooting.

Eventually you realize the model is nervous too. The designer is nervous too. The client wants the shoot to work just as badly as you do.

Confidence came from reps, not from waiting until I felt ready.

If you’re nervous before a shoot, keep going.

I started by shooting elementary school yearbooks.

Now I shoot fashion shows, work with brands, designers and models, and teach other photographers how to build a career doing the same.

None of that happened because I had some perfect plan.

It happened because at some point I decided I was going to actually go for it.

You don’t need to have everything figured out. But you do have to make the commitment to yourself that you’re going to try.

Because there’s nothing worse than looking back and knowing you could’ve built a different life, but never gave yourself the chance.

A lot of photographers spend months trying to become “good enough” before they ever try to get paid.

Meanwhile, the photographers getting booked are learning the business side at the same time they’re improving their work.

You can get better while you’re getting paid.

If you’re shooting runway, start around:

f/2.8
1/400 minimum
ISO wherever it needs to be for exposure
70–200mm

The biggest thing is keeping your shutter speed high enough. A perfectly exposed blurry runway photo is still a bad photo.
