πŸ“Έ Edinburgh Festival Fringe – Already Here

Another show I had the pleasure of photographing at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe! πŸŽπŸ“·

Already Here is a fascinating and thought-provoking show exploring grief, love, technology and AI, with plenty of unexpected moments along the way.

A few photos I took at Well-Balanced Dads by Whisper Theatre at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. πŸŽπŸ˜‚

This was such a fun show to photograph β€” and it definitely had me laughing!

The show follows Dick and Dale, two suburban American dads and best friends, who head off on a camping adventure that quickly turns into a hilarious mix of dad jokes, dance, acrobatics, movie references and plenty of audience interaction.

What I really enjoyed was how it manages to be silly and entertaining while also touching on things like masculinity, finding your inner child and what happens when the kids have grown up and flown the nest.

There were plenty of moments that caught me off guard and had the audience β€” myself included β€” laughing. A brilliant, energetic performance from Richie Schiraldi and Britt Anderson and a great example of the fun and variety you get at the Fringe.

If you're heading to the Fringe, definitely check this one out!

This was an absolute lot of fun to photograph β€” and definitely one of those shows where you find yourself laughing along with the audience!

A completely unscripted murder mystery where the audience gets to pick the victim, and the story is created live on stage. Detective John Johnson is back to tell one of his many tales, but his memory isn't quite what it used to be… so the audience has to help fill in the blanks and work out what really happened! πŸ”ŽπŸ’€

The fact that it's improvised means you never quite know where the story is going to go, which made for some brilliant unexpected moments, plenty of chaos and lots of laughs.

43 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh
πŸ“… 8th–14th August 2026

It was great to be there and capture some of the performers and those moments on stage. A really entertaining show and one that certainly had me laughing!

Tom Waits War Songs - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

A few photos I took at Tom Waits War Songs at Just The Tonic at The Subway (Venue 27) during the Edinburgh Fringe.

This is so much more than a Tom Waits tribute show. It’s a powerful and moving combination of live music, original animation and storytelling, built around songs by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan. The show follows the emotional journey of a soldier going to war, serving, and returning home carrying the invisible wounds of conflict.

Raw, gritty, emotional and at times incredibly intense β€” but also a brilliant live performance with some fantastic musicianship. It really stays with you after the show.

If you're at the Fringe and you're a Tom Waits fan, or even if you're not, I’d definitely recommend giving this one a look.

🌘 One of those moments you don't forget…

On Wednesday 12th August, while I was in Orkney, I was incredibly lucky to photograph the partial solar eclipse. πŸŒžπŸŒ‘

The Moon covered around 91% of the Sun at maximum eclipse in Orkney, with the eclipse reaching its peak at around 7pm.

The weather wasn't exactly playing ball, with plenty of cloud around, but then I got that little bit of luck every photographer hopes for β€” a break in the clouds at just the right moment.

Standing there in Orkney, watching the Moon slowly move across the Sun and knowing I had my camera ready was honestly an incredible feeling. There was something pretty special about being in such a remote and beautiful place, waiting for the clouds to clear just enough to capture it.

I wasn't sure I'd get the shot at all, so when that gap appeared, it was a case of camera up, focus, shoot! πŸ“Έ

Definitely one of the highlights of my Orkney trip and a moment I'll remember for a long time.

πŸŒ… Sunrise at Gartmorn Dam

One of those mornings where getting up early was definitely worth it. πŸ“Έ

I headed down to Gartmorn Dam before sunrise and was rewarded with some beautiful golden light across the water. The reflections were almost perfectly still, turning the whole scene into a huge natural mirror.

It’s amazing what you can find right on your doorstep when you’re willing to get up before everyone else. πŸŒ„

One of my favourite stops from my recent trip to Glencoe. There’s just something about this place β€” the mountains, the changing weather and that incredible Scottish landscape.

I captured this photo at Loch Achtriochtan, with the clouds rolling over the mountains and the light breaking through. πŸ“Έ

I also filmed the whole trip, so if you fancy coming along for the adventure and seeing some of Glencoe from behind the camera, check out the video below. πŸ‘‡

πŸ“Έ Looking back at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe… and getting ready for another adventure! 🎭

With the Edinburgh Festival Fringe starting tomorrow, I’ve been looking back through some of my favourite photos I captured last year.

It’s hard to describe the atmosphere the Fringe brings to Edinburgh every August. The city completely transforms every street, venue, and corner is filled with creativity, passion, laughter, and incredible performances from artists from all over the world.

I’m absolutely buzzing to be heading back out with the camera this year and capturing more of the magic behind the shows. πŸ“Έ

On Saturday I’ll be photographing 3 fantastic performances across Edinburgh:

🎭 Tom Waits War Songs
πŸ“ The Subway, 69 Cowgate

Can’t wait to be back in the middle of the action, capturing the performers, the atmosphere, and those moments that make the Fringe such a special event.

The Edinburgh Fringe is always full of surprises, and I’m excited to see what this year brings! πŸ”₯πŸ“Έ

Here’s to another brilliant festival! 🎭
