Memory is a living thing.

Walking into the House of Aama studio, I expected to encounter history. I didn’t expect to feel so immersed in it.

With Akua and Rebecca, conversation moved through migration, family, folklore, Nigeria, the American South, and our responsibility as stewards of memory.

Their work reminds me that the archive lives beyond photographs: in the body, clothing, ritual, land, gesture, and inherited stories.
