Twenty Years 🗽
This past Tuesday marked 20 years to the day that I moved to New York City. I took a very literal walk down memory lane visiting places I have lived & loved & reflecting on how the 2006 version of me felt, bursting with anxiety & hope. She was not at ALL prepared for the tumultuous, life-altering journey ahead!
I used to joke that living in NYC is like an abusive relationship — it’ll break you down & beat you up, but you just keep coming back because there’s no place like it. But 2026 me has come to understand that continuing to live here (in my experience as a transplant, at least) is more like being brave enough to meet the truest version of yourself. To learn how to navigate the world & survive & understand what you’re actually made of, not what you think you are.
To the handful of people in those early days that helped me find places to live, got me on set at a time when not many people hired women to photo assist & who literally drove the U-Haul through the scariest thunderstorm I’ve ever experienced — thank you.
You know who you are 🤍
