The one hidden gem near NYC most couples never find out about until it’s too late for their proposal photos. 🌿✨
Just a 30-minute drive from Manhattan, Untermyer Gardens Conservancy feels like stepping straight into Europe — Persian-inspired gardens, grand fountains, historic architecture, colorful flowers, and Hudson River views that take your breath away. It’s exactly why this is one of my favorite locations for romantic photoshoots and proposals — the atmosphere does the work for you, and every frame comes out cinematic.
📍 Good to know before you go:
🌸 Free admission every day
🚆 Easy to reach by Metro-North or by car
🚗 Free parking available (arrive early on weekends — it fills up fast)
🕘 Open daily from 9 AM (closing time changes seasonally)
🐶 Pets aren’t allowed (service animals welcome)
🥤 Bring a reusable water bottle — no food or drink vendors inside
🧺 No picnics inside the gardens (there’s a designated picnic area outside the Walled Garden)
📸 Casual phone photography is fine, but professional photoshoots need a permit arranged in advance
🚫 Drones aren’t permitted
👟 Wear comfortable shoes — the gardens include hills, stairs, and multiple levels
