NYCFC starts the Leagues Cup 2026 with a victory!
New York City FC defended home turf with a 2-0 win over Santos Laguna at Sports Illustrated Stadium, with goals from Tayvon Gray and Nico Cavallo.

Cavallo was one of the key players of the night — solid defensively, constantly involved in the attack, and scorer of the second goal. In my view, he was the Man of the Match.

It was also a special night for me, returning to local soccer coverage after the intensity of covering the FIFA World Cup 2026.

¡NYCFC comienza la Leagues Cup 2026 con una victoria!

New York City FC hizo respetar su localía y derrotó 2-0 a Santos Laguna en el Sports Illustrated Stadium, con goles de Tayvon Gray y Nico Cavallo.

Cavallo fue uno de los grandes protagonistas de la noche: sólido en defensa, constantemente involucrado en el ataque y autor del segundo gol. En mi opinión, fue el mejor jugador del partido.

También fue una noche especial para mí, al regresar a la cobertura del fútbol local después de la intensidad vivida durante la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026.

Tras un partido intenso y lleno de sacrificio, Argentina sufrió una expulsión por juego brusco casi al final del tiempo reglamentario. Por esa razón, la Albiceleste tuvo que disputar todo el tiempo extra con diez jugadores, intentando resistir y llevar la definición hasta los penales. Sin embargo, España aprovechó la superioridad numérica, intensificó su ataque y Ferran Torres marcó el gol de la victoria al minuto 106.

Norway shocked Brazil at MetLife Stadium with a historic 2-1 victory in the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Erling Haaland scored twice and led the Vikings into the quarterfinals, while Brazil left the tournament surrounded by sadness, frustration, and unanswered questions.
A night of yellow tears and Viking joy in New York New Jersey.

Noruega sorprendió a Brasil en el MetLife Stadium con una histórica victoria 2-1 en los octavos de final de la Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026. Erling Haaland anotó dos goles y llevó a los vikingos a los cuartos de final, mientras Brasil se despidió del torneo entre tristeza, frustración y muchas preguntas.
