David Arky Photography

David Arky Photography David Arky Photography, specializing in still-life and x-ray photography He currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife and children.

Best known for his still life, conceptual and x-ray photography, David’s work employs a clean-cut aesthetic with sharp visual contrasts. Presenting a sense of playful sophistication, his work depicts a balance that suits both subject matter and photographic technique. Having studied photography at the Rochester Institute of Technology as well as Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, David b

egan his career as a studio assistant before moving on to open his first studio in New York City. The studio produced editorial shoots for publications such as Esquire and National Lampoon, as well as other conceptual photography. After traveling the country as a photographer for Time Life, David opened his own Manhattan studio where he quickly developed a repertoire of advertising clients including IBM, AT&T, HP, Johnson & Johnson, Verizon, Microsoft and American Express. In addition to his work on high-profile ad campaigns, David’s photographs have appeared in editorials for The New York Times Magazine, Fortune, Newsweek, Men’s Health, and Popular Science, among many others. David’s work in x-ray photography began with a campaign commissioned by Strathmore Papers. From this initial concept of a briefcase being x-rayed through airport security came a multitude of applications for the technology, many of which are represented in his current portfolio. A recent project for The American Society for Mechanical Engineers involved a large-scale installation featuring examples of the inner workings of several mechanical objects including a Miele vacuum cleaner, an antique typewriter and a bionic hand. In the future David hopes to continue his work in x-ray imaging and technological subjects while pursuing more projects that involve depictions of the natural world.

In a recent project for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, New York-based photographer David Arky found himself inspired to explore new ideas and create something meaningful. David has worked with the Art Director, Tim Baldwin of B&G Design Studios several times on projects for Cedars-Sinai Hospital in the past. For this particular project, the goal was to create an image of a brain made out of tape cassettes based on their story on the fragile nature of memory.

Eat, drink and be active: a holiday shoot for the NFL:
Good photography tells a story; even better photography inspires action. Like the shoot we did for the Play 60 Initiative, a holiday partnership between the NFL and the American Dairy Association.
Because the goal was to inspire kids to eat well and exercise daily, the images had to be vivid, delicious and motivating, but also active and—to remind kids of where good health can take them—all in the shape of a pro football.
