During an eleven-year period, from 1998 through 2009, Dutch photographer Martin Roemers photographed the structural and topographic remnants of the Cold War in both the East and West. His research took him to Russia, Poland, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Great Britain, Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, where he documented underground tunnels, abandoned army bases, military training areas, rotting tanks, and destroyed monuments.

Now open at the Wende Museum, “Martin Roemers: Relics of the Cold War” presents work by Dutch photographer Martin Roemers from 1998 through 2009, when he captured the structural and topographic remnants of the Cold War in both the East and West over an eleven-year period.

The Wende Museum is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is always free.

Ukrainian Female Soldiers on the Front Line: photographs by Sarah Blesener.

All proceeds from Sarah's print sales will go directly to the 24.02 Fund and the Global Empowerment Mission’s efforts in Ukraine.

According to the Wall Street Journal, as of February 2022, 32,000 women serve in the Ukrainian Military, while many more are part of political volunteer battalion groups.

Women are prohibited from even stepping foot in the dohyō, the sacred ring where sumotori wrestle.
