Let’s Chat about NFT and what your thoughts are around it in regards to selling your artwork. NFT stands for non-fungible token. “Non-fungible” just means it’s unique and can’t be replaced by something identical—unlike a dollar bill or a stock share.

How it applies to photography:

* A photographer takes a digital image.
* They “mint” it as an NFT on a blockchain (most commonly Ethereum).
* That NFT becomes a verifiable certificate of ownership tied to that specific image.
* Someone can buy the NFT, and the blockchain records that they own the “original” version.

Important distinction:

Owning an NFT does NOT usually mean owning the copyright to the image.
It means you own the token linked to that image—like owning a signed print, not the rights to reproduce it.

Why photographers use NFTs:

* Sell digital work as collectibles (even if copies exist online)
* Earn royalties every time the NFT is resold (built into many platforms)
* Reach global collectors without galleries

Example:

A photographer could sell:

* 1/1 NFT → like a one-of-a-kind artwork
* Limited editions → like selling 10 signed prints

Platforms photographers use:

* OpenSea
* Foundation
* SuperRare

The reality check:

NFT photography had a huge boom around 2021–2022, but the market cooled down. Some artists still make good money, but it’s not a guaranteed income stream—it’s more like entering the fine art/collector world than selling typical prints.
