Hi There! ✨ It’s been a while since I last showed up here, but I’m thrilled to reconnect with all of you! I usually prefer the backstage, but when it’s event day, you’ll find me front and center, making sure everything runs like clockwork so my amazing clients can savor every moment of their celebration!
For those just joining us, welcome to my little corner of IG! I’m Kathiya (kathy-uh 😉) the heart and soul behind Zela Events. Proud Latina, wife, and momma to two incredible kiddos. While I’m based in northern New Jersey, I’m often shuttling between NJ and NYC.
What started as my first fun job as a party host in high school has led to 15+ years in the events industry. I have worn many hats – from venue management to offsite event production and lead planner handling everything from catering logistics to event design. Fast forward to 2018, Zela (“ZELL-uh”) was born. A shortened version of my not-so-common last name…which I love 😊
What sets Zela apart? Attention to detail and logistical expertise. Our deep understanding of clients’ and vendors’ needs, ensures seamless event days that exceed expectations. With a keen eye for design honed through my roots in interior design studies (reason why I love creating floor plans 📐), I am passionate about crafting conceptually pleasing and flawlessly executed events.
And about those florals you’ve seen from Zela? My journey into florals was serendipitous. During my maternity leave in 2018, I immersed myself in floral design at the NY School of Flowers. What started as educating myself more on design and as a hobby soon blossomed into a passion. In 2020 “the shutdown” brought slow times, but it also gave me the opportunity to dive deeper into more floral education with some amazing designers, and the rest, as they say, is history.
