Last October, I photographed the RAMP X Brian Baumgartner popup in NYC, on behalf on filmmaker Max Zavidow!!
The company Ramp hosted a 1-day event, featuring actor Brian Baumgartner, most recognized as Kevin from The Office. Playing himself, they put Brian in a glass box, smack dab in the middle of Madison Square Park.
Throughout the day, Brian improvised a storyline working in an office as the self-proclaimed “CEO of Ramp”, taking inventory of receipts while Ramp’s automated system exponentially beat his speed, printing receipts all around him. While being bothered by interns (played by Max Zavidow, Anthony Po & Saad Akhtar), surprise special guests such as The Rizzler & Hallie Walker, and a real live wedding ceremony in the box.
Working on behalf of Max, I got to photograph the entire day from his perspective- from hair & makeup to being in the box, moments with friends & family & shooting behind-the-scenes photos during interviews and media moments. I’ve seen his work for years, baffled at his creativity and the sheer amount of friends that are involved in his projects, and seeing his storytelling mind at work irl was SICKKK :D
Along with photographing the event, I also got to shoot video for Max’s short film “Becoming Brian”, a story about becoming Brian, with Max dressing up as him and talking about being known for a role, or being put in a box (literally and figuratively). The day was long, but thousands of people dropped by and watch whatever was going on in that box. It was such an honor to work on!
