A Liberty Cent Engraved,
With An Indian Headdress Figure Head.
There Were Stories And Denials Of Fact,
The Series Start Date Was Really 1857,
With A Large Number Of Patterns Circulating.
The Flying Eagle Cent Planned As A Proposal,
Went Into Production, In 1857.
As Well As The Indian Liberty.
Full Production Was Held Off
On The Indian Headdress Liberty.
All In Politics, The Democrats Complained,
About The Design, With Crazy Reasons.
By 1859 The Resistance, Fell Out Of Congress,
Which Allowed The Fifty Year Run.
The Last Year 1909,
Had A Low Mintage At
The San Francisco Mint Indian Cent
Only 309 Thousand Were Released.
Some Say More Were Made And Then Melted,
For Metal Of The Lincoln Cent Production.
Because Of The VDB Scandal.
The Initials Of The Designer Appeared On The Reverse.
Many 1909 Indian Cents Were Melted Down.
As The Story Goes Over Seven Million Were Melted.
The Final Mint Numbers,
Were Not A Big Deal Back Then.
That Was A Smaller Number Than 1877.
852,500 Cents Compared To 309,000 Of 1909.
Having Either Is A Financial Quest.
