Erin Brockovich is once again stepping into a major public fight, this time focusing on the rapid expansion of AI data centers across the United States. The environmental advocate has launched a new website inviting Americans to report concerns about data centers being built or proposed in their communities.
The platform includes an interactive map tracking operational, under-construction, and proposed AI data centers, along with thousands of community-submitted reports. According to Brockovich's initiative, residents have raised concerns ranging from energy consumption and water use to noise pollution and potential impacts on local infrastructure.
Supporters say the effort gives communities a way to share information and increase transparency around projects that can significantly affect local resources. Brockovich argues that many residents feel they are not being adequately informed about developments happening in their own neighborhoods.
At the same time, tech companies continue investing billions of dollars into AI infrastructure as demand for artificial intelligence grows. The debate has highlighted a broader question facing communities across the country: how to balance technological progress with environmental and local concerns.
Do you think communities should have a greater say in where AI data centers are built, or are these facilities a necessary part of the country's technological future?
