"Fiona Butterfly" - Fiona (3 weeks) 1995. Fiona is on the cover of my very first coffee table book "Down in the Garden". At the time I shot this image her parents were our next door neighbors! Tiny Fiona looked exquisite in her little outfit, lying on top of these huge hand-painted butterfly wings ... simple, impactful and everything is real as are the majority of images in the book. was instrumental in launching the book in 1996 - on to the bestseller list. 2026 is the 30th anniversary of the launch, meaning every baby in the book would now be in their early to late 30's! If you were one of the babies in DIG I'd love to hear what you're up to today. Phillipa (8 months) 1992 … This is one of my favorite images. It was originally created as a portrait sitting and Phillipa’s mother had a beautiful rose garden. She arrived with buckets full of roses (all de-thorned) and one baby who was sitting on the floor in reception when I walked in to say hello to her. She looked up at me with this beautiful smile, and her mother said that if you smiled at her that way she would copy you. I wish we had bts of me and my assistant, up on a ledge near the ceiling, looking down at her lying in the roses and trying to get her to smile like that again - and then she did XOAnne .lawlor
