Photographer’s Secret: the spotlight effect you see on the wall text in this photo was actually dodged in photoshop 🔍 (I know for sure because I’m the one who made it!) Normally, I don’t mess with lighting when an architect or designer has designed the lighting for a space- but when the architect told me that they wanted to feature this column graphic, I noticed the lighting was too uneven from column to column for it to feel like a cohesive design construct when translated into the 2D form of a photo, so I just added a little spotlight effect afterward to help bring the darker columns up to meet the brightness of the lighter columns to create visual consistency that would focus the eye on the intended design feature, rather than stopping the eye from one column to the next and making a viewer wonder why one column was so much darker or brighter than another.

While looking for something else, I was surprised to see an article I never knew had been published... it was a ton of fun spending the day photographing Stephen King on his visit to UMass Lowell... definitely one of the highlights of working on contract with that university! If you could shadow an author for a day, who would it be?

Horror master Stephen King was at UMass-Lowell Friday and spoke to over 3,000 people at the Tsongas Center. Beforehand, the bestselling author from Bangor got together with a few faculty members, including English professor Bridget Marshall, author Andre Dubus III, and English Department chairman An...

So glad to see Reed & Acanthus Interior Design being featured in the July issue of East Coast Home + Design! We planned for a potential magazine feature before an editor had ever seen this project by making sure the design was photographed with enough vertically formatted and composed images that would land in a magazine layout more easily to help make an image editor’s job easier to feature this work as an editorial spread! Planning ahead for publication makes it that much easier to get published! https://www.instagram.com/p/BlqMmyKAV79/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1mq8hx2o536x2

Thank you to all of my amazing clients who have supported my work and passion of being a photographer for over 13 years!!!

- To my wedding & portrait clients who started me on the path of photography: I still treasure every one of those personal moments I was able to capture and I hope that you treasure those images of friends and family for many years to come!

- To my commercial clients, small business owners, architects, and interior designers: I’m so honored that you selected me and my work to help grow and market your business and create great images of your work! I will still help defend any copyright issues related to protecting the work we created together and am still available to discuss licensing of previous work created.

- To my fellow photographers and freelancing creatives: I am deeply grateful for all of the colleagues and lifelong friendships that have emerged because of this profession. I am still available for business consulting or coaching and sharing everything that I’ve learned to help you have an easy and quick path to success, or to help you move your business more easily, or exit gracefully when life calls you in a different direction, and I hope that you’ll continue to stay in touch with me into my next chapter of life and work....
