Dorothea Lange – Migrant Mother, Nipomo, California, 1936

Photography has a unique power to connect directly with people, evoking emotions and sparking memories in a way that no other medium quite can. A photograph can freeze a moment, revealing raw emotions or everyday realities that often go unnoticed. Unlike other art forms that may interpret or distort reality, photography has the ability to present an unfiltered truth, capturing the world exactly as it is—or was—at a precise instant.

Famous photographs, like Dorothea Lange's "Migrant Mother" or Steve McCurry’s "Afghan Girl," capture something profound about the human condition. They don’t just tell a story; they invite viewers into a moment of humanity that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. These images become symbols of resilience, struggle, or compassion, often resonating across generations and cultures.

One of the most powerful aspects of photography is its immediacy. A single photograph can break down barriers of language and context, allowing viewers to feel an instant, visceral reaction. It invites empathy, offering a window into the lives and experiences of others. Through this lens, photography becomes more than just an art form; it’s a social and historical record, a medium for storytelling, and an agent of change.

So deceptive. Of the market for art sales, photography, sadly only makes up 2% of the art market. Of that, only 1% of sales make up over $25,000. Even less for six figures. Even less if you’re still living. For the photographers who are still living and selling their work for six figures, none are doing so without gallery representation… in which case a WYSIWYG template builder for a website would be irrelevant. I challenge Art Storefronts to start practicing more ethical marketing strategies. There are real photographers who have really good work and would do anything to quit their full time job to sell their photography. Taking advantage of them through deceptive marketing schemes like this is downright wrong!

What an incredible and frankly unexpected honor this is!!!! I have never been more pumped!
