For years, Iāve been filming almost everything with the same 24ā70mm f/4 lens.
There was honestly nothing wrong with it. Itās versatile, reliable, and it taught me a lot about filmmaking.
But Iāve always wanted another lens. I just kept waiting for the āright time.ā
Part of me felt like I needed to improve first like I need to learn more about my camera or how to expose better.
So for a while, I kept going back and forth:
Do I upgrade my 24ā70mm?Ā Or finally try a prime lens?
At the start of this year, the way I made videos started changing.
I became more intentional with my framing, movement, and the kinds of moments I wanted to capture.
And that made the decision a little easier.
Seven years after getting my first camera, I finally added another lens to my bag: a 35mm f/2.8 prime lens.
Itās funny how one small change in your camera setup can make such a difference in how you capture things.
Iām still learning how to get the most out of this lens, but so far, Iām really enjoying it.
do you think I made a good choice?
