Two Red Tailed Hawk Babies Seen on A Nest in Manhattan. May 29, 2026, New York, USA: Two red tailed hawk babies are seen on a nest on the window side of the New York Athletic club building on 180 Central Park, New York. The babies are waiting for their mother to bring some food. The Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) is North America’s most common and widespread large hawk, known for its broad wings, short tail, and distinctive reddish-brown tail in adults, though plumage varies greatly by region and age. They are adaptable raptors, found in diverse habitats from forests to deserts, often seen soaring in circles or perched on telephone poles and fence posts, hunting small mammals, reptiles, and birds.
