In honor of migration I’m revisiting a shoot from a little over a year ago

These photos was created for AARP as part of an Instagram topic exploring Gen X and the hobbies that shape identity, curiosity, and a life well-lived. I photographed Vlad Duthiers of CBS at Pier 6 in Brooklyn, where the landscape offered its own sense of rhythm, transition, and quiet observation.

Grateful for the chance to make work that sits at the intersection of portraiture, place, and storytelling. Although simple, this has been one of my favorites shoots.

Today’s shoot was in a pantry/lunch area at a blockchain platform company on the Bowery in NYC. Same light set up was used as before to ensure continuity. 🤍

Today’s portrait shoot was in a very cool library at The Grolier Club. I had the task of photographing the president, who interestingly is the second woman to hold that position. “The Grolier Club in New York is the oldest and largest American society for bibliophiles and graphic arts enthusiasts. Dedicated to the study, collecting, and appreciation of books, the club is named after renowned 16th-century French collector Jean Grolier. It operates as a private club holding over 100,000 volumes, while hosting public exhibitions on book history.”
