Just some random thoughts as I look around my photography studio today… 📸

I have this wonderful creative space, and sometimes I feel like I don't use it nearly enough!

I've been tossing around the idea of opening up my studio for some photography classes and workshops. A chance to share what I've learned over the years, get creative, experiment with lighting, and connect with others who share a love of photography.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but I'm curious… Would anyone be interested in taking a photography class or attending a studio workshop? Whether you're just starting out or looking to expand your skills, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Maybe it's time to breathe a little more creative life into this space. ✨

Sometimes the most magical light happens when the clouds roll in. 🌥️

We had sunshine for this senior session, but just enough cloud cover to turn the entire sky into one enormous softbox...softening the sun while still giving us the most incredible, glowing backlight. And WOW. Everything came together: the light, the location, and this absolutely beautiful senior who made my job ridiculously easy.

This was one of those sessions where I kept looking at the back of my camera thinking, Are you kidding me right now? 😍

But maybe my favorite part came afterward, when she saw her sneak peek and messaged me, “Never stop taking photos.”

I’m not planning to. ❤️📷

What an absolutely magical evening. ✨

There’s something extra special about photographing a senior I’ve had the privilege of photographing since she was a little girl. ❤️ We returned to a park where we’d taken photos together years ago, this time with the most beautiful sunset light to celebrate a pretty incredible milestone. I am so honored I got to capture this chapter for this beautiful young woman! ✨

One of my favorite things about senior sessions is finding ways to make a familiar location feel completely new for the person in front of my camera. We wandered trails, found a little nature, an old barn, and some great pockets of light ..and it all just fit this wonderful high school senior! Laid-back, down-to-earth, and completely comfortable being himself, he had one of those easy smiles that makes my job pretty easy. Such a fun evening creating some really cool senior portraits with this guy!

Such a fun experience shooting at Cobalt Lighting Studio in Portland! Thank you Cobalt Studios PDX ! I loved getting to learn and experiment in such an incredible studio space, working with different lighting setups, colors, and some amazing models tagged below. Playing with light and color in new ways was especially fun for me, and the whole day was made even better by such a great group of creative people. 📸✨

This was one EPIC family photo shoot! 🦖

Dinosaurs, dramatic lighting, and a family who was completely willing to play along! We had such a great time recreating scenes inspired by Jurassic Park, and honestly, the experience of making these images was half the adventure. This is exactly the kind of photography I love: creating something imaginative together and everyone having a blast in the process.

And because I’ve already heard the question: No, I didn’t ask AI to create these photographs or add dinosaurs to them. The family was photographed by me, and I built the finished scenes in Photoshop using dinosaur PNG overlays that I purchased and licensed from an independent digital artist on Etsy. (I can’t speak to what tools the original artist may have used to create the dinosaurs themselves.) The compositing, lighting, placement, color work, shadows, and all the little details that make the dinosaurs belong in the photographs were done as part of my editing process. Because, sadly, my budget did not include actual dinosaurs. 😂🦖

Sometimes a family portrait can be more than a picture. It can be an adventure. And, as Dr. Ian Malcolm would say… “Life finds a way.” 🦖🌿

There is something hauntingly beautiful about old libraries. Add a vintage dress, an ancient spellbook, and a little magic, and for a moment it feels like you've stepped into another world.

One of my favorite parts of portrait photography is when all the pieces finally fall into place. The outfit was just waiting for the right backdrop, and when I paired the two together, the image immediately felt like it belonged to another time.
