It is always such a privilege to be tasked with capturing and preserving important moments in time for people. Whether it’s the joy of a new addition, or a farewell send-off to a dear friend. All of the gratitude to Ashley and Luka for letting me bear witness to and capture a few special moments between them ♥️

Trigger warning: death of a companion animal

Most of my waking hours were spent with Luka by my side. I can count on one hand how many nights I spent away from him over the last several years. That’s more time spent with my dog than any other friend, family member, partner, or human being I know.

Many people may never understand the magnitude of the loss of a dog, and society certainly doesn’t recognize it or talk about it enough. It leaves a gaping hole in your heart and can feel worse than any other death or loss.

I’ve been pretty quiet on this account as I grieve the loss of Luka, but I’m looking forward to opening my calendar again soon and working with all of you. Luka has always been, and continues to be, an inspiration for me in training and working with families and challenging dogs. Stay tuned!

Easter Pup 2022 Roundup.

These were a lot of fun to do but *oh boy* was the weather uncooperative. Thanks to everyone that understood last-minute cancellations and rescheduling due to thunder-sleet and other insane weather phenomena that seems to only occur in New York in spring. The pups all brought their best behavior, and I'm looking forward to the next round of minis.

Round two of Easter pup pictures is done! This one was made even sweeter by the fact that this pup was a former foster of ours. It is so, so heartwarming to see Millie thriving with her new family! You know you've made it when your new mom even shows up with wardrobe changes 😉

I have *so* many things to say about how your wedding should be your day, about how you should do what YOU want to do, about how the focus of your day should be your love together and not worrying about whether your dress got dirty, but for now, I think this picture says all that I am trying to. All of the love to the Covid brides this year. You are tough, you are in love, and you will find a way to make your day happen.

Happy Self Care Saturday! Dixie just wants to remind you that self care can take many forms, it does not have to be extravagant! She made time for herself today by having a nice, relaxing bath, then curling up on the couch with a cup of tea and a few good books that she *definitely* won't chew to pieces as an act of revenge when I turn my back. After that, it looks like a little nap is in order. Hope everyone is hanging in there and making the best of these weird and wild times ❤️

Weekend update from Dixie:

She has informed me that she's tired of playing dress-up for silly quarantine pictures, and that she just wants to go for a hike. We had a heck of a time trying to find someplace that wasn't packed but hey, it pays to be a local. We can always find a secret spot 😉 The hiatus from ridiculous Dixie pictures will be short, I promise.

It's a strange feeling to be sitting here in spring with no plan, rather than gearing up for a busy season but just like everyone, we want to make the best of it. I hope everyone is doing well, and while I don't think we will ever go back to "normal," I can't wait until we are on the other side of this, looking back.

Happy from Dixie! They're saying that dogs can't transmit Covid-19, but Dixie worked from home today just to be safe. She isn't much help with client emails, but she does a good job reminding me that it's lunchtime, and she does an even better job reminding me that at approximately 1:00, we need to take a break to go bark at the mailman. Hope everyone had both a healthy and a productive day.
