Friday Facts - or at least facts that I swear by.

1. Diet Coke out of a bottle, out of a can and out of a fountain are three entirely different drinks.
2. Family photos that are in-the-moment are 100x better than posed family photos.
3. Every pair of jeans should have stretch to them. Period.
4. Having to make a decision about where to eat is rage-inducing.
5. Exercise is better than any antidepressant.
6. Physical planners are better than digital planners/calendars.
7. Happiness isn't found in bigger houses. (refer to the song Bigger Houses by Dan & Shay for what I mean by that)
8. Being tan makes you happier.

With Fall fast approaching and stores beginning to get their Fall decor out, I would like to reiterate that Halloween is the worst holiday ever. I truly dislike Halloween.

My logic:
1. The colors are ugly. Orange and black? Really?
2. We tell kids to never take candy from strangers. On Halloween, we tell them to take candy from literally everyone.
3. You can buy candy at the store and they’ll bring it to your car for you. Why walk miles begging for it while you knock on strangers doors.
4. Spiders are standard decor. Just no. No spiders. Ever.

Who else is feeling that strange "school is about to start" funk? It's that feeling where you're super emotional and sad that summer is coming to an end and realizing that yet another summer with your kids has passed and yet, you're ready for routine and a schedule again. It's that strange limbo of being so upset that their going to be gone all day long in a couple weeks and you won't have the easy, go-with-the-flow nights anymore, but also being a bit relieved that you're going to have a bit of time to get work done and you'll be running on a schedule.

It's a weird limbo that I do not like and one that makes me extremely sad and anxious every summer. The couple weeks before school starts is extremely hard for me - especially as they get older. I've always known that I get 18 summers with them and with my oldest I'm down to three and I'm - in full transparency - not doing well with that. You think you have all the time in the world with those 18 summers and then you're down to just a couple and it will quite literally break your heart.

So for all you mamas out there experiencing this emotional limbo of sadness, relief and anxiousness all at once - you're not alone. I'm sitting right there with you.

Please tell me know I'm not the only one feeling these two entirely opposite emotions right now.

I've got so many thoughts on youth sports. I think they are an incredible and necessary part of childhood, but I also think they have become out of control and there are many drawbacks, as well. But that is a conversation for another day.

Today I want to talk specifically about the cost of getting into a tournament. I was talking to a friend this weekend and she told me that she paid $90 for a single weekend pass to her daughter's basketball tournament last weekend + $45 for parking. I was blown away! I think the most we've ever paid for a tournament pass was $50 (and I thought that was ridiculous). Ninety + parking just seems insane! You birthed the kid, paid for their lessons, all the equipment, transportation to the tournament, their entry fee into the tournament and then they charge $90 for you to be able to sit in an uncomfortable bleacher to watch them play the game?

What is the most you have ever paid to watch your own kid play in a tournament? Let me know below! Can anyone beat $90?

The weather finally cooperated for us and we were finally able to do this shoot last night! I had the best time with this crew! I loved that we shot at their home and were able to capture so much of what this season of life entails for them. Golf cart rides. A playful family dog. Evenings by the pool and playing in the backyard. And we even wrapped up the evening with a jump in the pool to cool off. It truly was SUCH a good night!

And the photos of Cameron and her grandpa may be some of my favorites ever. I was so close to all four of my grandparents and they played such a pivotal roll in my life. I feel so blessed to have had such special relationships with each of them. It was very evident that Cameron is very close with her grandparents and I loved that we could capture her relationships with them!
