May seem petty but I know when I feel myself, I make better, faster decisions. I connect deeper to my work. I melt into the day. So, yeah it’s nail polish but it’s business and art, get it?

Feel yourself. Make better work.

My littlest baby turned three yesterday.

And between that and the news lately, I keep thinking about how much we need each other.

I didn’t know nearly enough about the support that existed when I was pregnant and postpartum, so today I’m sharing five women I’ve been lucky enough to photograph, work with, and get to know since.

We were never meant to do all of this alone. 🤍

Megan Boston Childbirth Education & Doula

A doula and a birth photographer in one. Although my second baby came fast and furiously, I was so happy to have Megan there to capture her birth on camera. Grounded, talented, and always putting community first, Megan also hosts workshops, gatherings, and classes at her space in Acton, MA.

Amelia Amelia Damplo | MA Postpartum Doula

I’ve been able to witness Amelia in her element, caring for mothers during pregnancy and postpartum. She has a gentle, grounding energy that reminds me how soft postpartum care can be. If you haven’t explored Ayurvedic care yet, consider this your invitation.

Stephanie Stephanie Parsons

There’s something incredible about rolling from the massage table straight onto your own couch. Never mind the magic that is Stephanie herself. She specializes in postpartum massage therapy and has assembled an expert team that will come right to you.

Kara Kara | Certified Nurse Midwife

I knew the moment I met Kara that she’d be invaluable in a birth space. You’ll know what I mean. She’s a midwife I connected with recently and very quickly came to love. Her newest creation is a Birth Vision workshop designed to help women think beyond the checklist of a traditional birth plan and get clearer on how they want to feel, be supported, and move through birth. Go follow her for details.

Sam Sam Byington, CLC® & Postpartum Chef

I’ve had the honor of capturing Sam both in motherhood and at work in the kitchen. She is a lighthouse. Strong, steady, deeply caring, and also a classically trained chef. Sam offers holistic postpartum doula support, custom meal preparation and pantry stocking, and lactation support. She’s currently on maternity leave, but follow her for news on

There are ideas and perspectives inside of me waiting to be shared, but the fear of visibility is real and alive. This is my new practice to conquer it. Low production, zero filters, I didn’t even put on a new shirt.

I always invite the mystery. No amount of shot lists or planning or experience can truly prep you for a session because each is so unique.

The quality of light, environment, and energy come together to make each session what it is.

So, please, bring me the wild ones. The ones who have no interest in following the plan (what’s a plan, anyways?).

Just book it.

Serving Massachusetts and beyond. I’ll bring the camera, you bring the chaos. < Is that cheesy? I can’t tell. Leaving it 😛.

Being with a family I have photographed for years feels like a quantum timeline hop.

For a little while, every version of them seems to exist at once.

The doddling toddler. The sprouting elementary school kid. The awkward teen. The person preparing to leave home for the first time.

This year, I get to photograph five sets of kids I first met when I was their preschool teacher, back when they were four and five years old.

Fifteen years of connectedness.

I don’t really have a tidy conclusion for this, only that this part of family photography unravels me and grounds me at the same time.

The orbit of return, year after year. The remembering. The tangible proof that all of it was real.

Swipe to see the same family all those years ago.

A family history, curated by trust.

The camera amplifies what’s already there. It’s one of the most fascinating parts of this work.

Want a clear path to the truth of a family? Point a camera at them.

I entered this session with a few inquiries as my guide:

What does it look like to be both so little and newly big?

What does it feel like to suddenly share the arms, the attention, the orbit with someone you’ve only just met?

As the morning unfolded, my curiosity was met with a web of generational love that Big Sister moved through with ease, and a little (or, a lot) of support from a grandmother softening the transition.

No shot list, just a witness following the threads of a family finding itself again.

Plum Island felt like a faraway land to little me.
Wide open, windy, wild.

I still love bringing families here.
