We finished up Mental Health Awareness month with this incredible girlie. It was an honor to sit and chat with Makayla and hear a bit about her journey with anxiety. We talked about the tools she uses on a daily basis. About how dance is her escape and allows her to just be and feel and get out of her own head. But what stuck with me the most was when I asked her "What is it that you wish people knew about what it's like living with anxiety?" and her response was (with a laugh and a huge smile) "I could talk about that all day!!". Makayla then went on to say how alot of people assume that if you have anxiety it just means that you are scared all the time and how that's far from the truth. People with anxiety don't live their lives scared, their brains work a little faster, they think about more things at once, they feel a little bit more... but that makes them strong.. not scared.

Talking with Makayla, I was so amazed at her mindfulness and maturity, how in tune with herself she is and how incredibly strong she is. Thank you for being a part of the You Are Enough project and for sharing your story with me.
